Principles

BK School is committed to providing an environment in which all staff are appropriately trained to recognize and discharge their responsibility to safeguard students and promote the highest standards of student welfare. BK School recognizes that safeguarding incidents can happen in any school and all staff must be alert to possible concerns being raised in our academies.

BK School recognizes and emphasizes the need for good levels of communication between all members of the school community – staff, students, parents and external agencies – in order to place student welfare at the core of our practice.

The procedures for ensuring and promoting safe, healthy and positive environments in the school will follow these principles:

  • The interests and welfare of the child are paramount. BK School will uphold the right of all children and young people to be protected from abuse regardless of race, culture, religion, gender, sexuality or disability.
  • Every child is entitled to be known as an individual and to be offered help and guidance with regard to their personal, social and learning needs.
  • All students are equipped through the curriculum with the knowledge and skills to stay safe from abuse and to make informed choices to stay healthy and to know who to go to for support.
  • All BK School staff are committed to providing a caring, safe and positive environment for all students in which to develop and achieve more than they think possible.
